I had posted this question as a response to another question in the electrical section, but thought that it was more of a rules question than anything.

From FH-2.1.1
Quote:
All vehicles shall be equipped with an on-board Ground Fault detector. This must be a Bender IR486 (or equivalent if approved by the organizers).

We currently have a ground fault detector and would like to avoid purchasing an additional one. I have not been able to find any information on the IR486 and have no idea how to determine if ours is equivalent.

Where can I get information on the pre-approved ground fault detector? What do we need to do in order to start the approval process for our ground fault detector (assuming that it is equivalent)?

We are adding the Bender data sheet to the "rules and
important documents" page on our web site.

If you'd like a copy sooner, email wynne@formula-hybrid.org

If you'd like us to approve the one you have now, send us the
information on it.
